Our Story.

Iglesia Biblica del Reino (Kingdom Bible Church) is a church plant on the north coast of the Dominican Republic near Cangrejo. In the summer of 2024 Wes and Sarah Ireton, living in the US (Texas) felt called to plant a church in the Dominican Republic. After much prayer and many trips, the ministry began in the summer of 2025 with one small home group, and we have continued to build the church through life-on-life disciple-making in homes. We are continuing to train new home group leaders to open their homes to their communities with the gospel and the love of Jesus. Collectively, these small groups make up Iglesia Biblica del Reino. These groups are the lifeblood of our church. We are not a church that offers small groups; we are a church that is made up of small groups.

In July of 2026, Wes and Sarah moved their family to the Dominican Republic to begin a life devoted to serving the Lord and His Church. Just a short time later the Lord provided a building for Iglesia Biblica del Reino to begin gathering for worship and ministry. The church began gathering for corporate worship in October of 2026.

Our Discipleship Commitments

Discipleship is at the very core of our ministry. Our aim is to make disciples whose lives are devoted to five key aspects of obedience and submission to Jesus.

01

Worship

Since our sovereign God, in His grace, has given us the gift of faith and new life, let us devote ourselves to joyful worship. We strive to worship God in every aspect of life, both individually and corporately as His Church.

02

Community

Since God has chosen us, adopted us, and grafted us into His family by faith, we recognize that we make up the body of Christ. Therefore, let us devote ourselves to loving one another in covenant community.

03

Service

Since Christ, our Master and example, came to serve and lay His life down for us in love, let us, by His grace, devote ourselves to serving one another in sacrificial love.

04

Growth

Since God has graciously given us His Spirit, who leads us into understanding, let us devote ourselves to growing in the grace and knowledge of God through the faithful study of His Word.

05

Mission

Since the Lord Jesus has commissioned us to make disciples, let us, in confidence and boldness, devote ourselves to reaching our communities and the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What We Believe.

Doctrine of God

We believe there is one true and living God who has eternally existed as three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. Each is fully and equally God, sharing the same divine nature and worthy of the same worship, honor, and praise. Yet there are not three gods, but one God. This truth is at the very heart of the Christian faith (Matthew 28:18–20).

We believe in God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth and sovereign Lord over everything He has made.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God the Son, who has eternally existed with the Father. He was not created but is eternally God. Through Him all things were created, and by His power all things are held together (Colossians 1:15–20). For our salvation, the Son took on human flesh and lived among us (John 1:14). Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived a perfect and sinless life, suffered and died on the cross, was buried, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of the Father. One day He will return to judge the living and the dead and bring His Kingdom to its full and final completion.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit, who eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son and has been sent to accomplish God’s work in His people (John 15:26–27). The Holy Spirit gives new life, brings about the new birth, unites believers to Christ through faith, and dwells within everyone who belongs to Jesus (Ephesians 1:13–14). He opens our eyes to understand the truth of God’s Word, works in us to make us more like Christ, and empowers the Church to live faithfully and carry out the mission Jesus has given us.

The work of the Holy Spirit always brings glory to Christ, just as Christ came to glorify the Father. Because the Holy Spirit is fully God, He is worthy of the same worship, honor, and obedience as the Father and the Son.

We believe that Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—the one triune God—created everything, visible and invisible. Everything belongs to Him, everything exists for His glory, and He sovereignly rules over all that He has made (Psalm 24:1).

We believe that God has made Himself known to us. He has not left us to wonder who He is or what He is like. God has revealed Himself through His creation (Psalm 8; Romans 1:20), through His written Word, the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16), and most clearly through His Son, Jesus Christ, the Word who became flesh (Hebrews 1:1–2).

We believe that Jesus Christ is the perfect revelation of God. He is “the image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15) and “the exact imprint of his nature” (Hebrews 1:3). To know Jesus is to know the Father, because Jesus perfectly reveals who God is (John 5:19).

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God. Because Scripture comes from God, it is true and without error in its original writings. The Bible alone is our final and authoritative standard for what we believe, how we live, and how we understand who God is.

We believe Scripture is sufficient. Through His Word, God has given us everything we need to know Him, trust Him, follow Christ faithfully, and live according to His will. Therefore, we receive what Scripture teaches as truth, obey what it commands, and trust what it promises. God’s Word does not change or fade but stands forever (Isaiah 40:6–8).

We also believe that God uses His Word to accomplish His work in His people. Through the hearing and preaching of the gospel, God brings people to faith, strengthens His Church, and equips His people to grow as disciples of Jesus and faithfully make Him known to others (Romans 10:14–17).

We believe that God created everything from nothing. The heavens, the earth, and everything in them exist because God spoke them into being (Genesis 1:1–2; Psalm 24:1). Creation was not an accident or the result of chance, but the intentional work of God according to His wisdom, purpose, and goodness. Everything God created was good (Genesis 1:3–31), and all creation ultimately exists for His glory.

We believe that God not only created the world, but continues to sustain it. Creation does not exist independently from Him. Every moment, everything that exists is upheld by His power and remains under His sovereign rule. As Scripture teaches, Christ is before all things, and “in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17).

Therefore, all of creation belongs to God, depends upon God, and exists according to His purposes and for His glory.

We believe that God created humanity in His own image, male and female (Genesis 1:27–30). Because every person bears the image of God, every human life has God-given dignity, value, and worth. We were created to know God, reflect His character, represent Him in the world, and ultimately live for His glory (1 Corinthians 10:31).

We believe that God created both men and women with equal dignity and value before Him. Through faith in Jesus Christ, both have equal access to God and are equally recipients of His grace. Both are called to faithfully serve God and use their gifts for His purposes in the home, the Church, and the world.

We also believe that God intentionally created men and women distinct from one another. These differences are part of His good design. Men and women are equal in value but are not simply interchangeable. God designed them to complement one another and to serve together in ways that reflect His wisdom and goodness.

We believe that God established marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman, joining them together in a one-flesh union (Genesis 2:24). Marriage is God’s design for the sexual relationship between a man and a woman and is intended to reflect faithfulness, love, commitment, and His good purposes for humanity.

Therefore, we believe our identity, our relationships, our marriages, and the way we live should be shaped by God’s design revealed in His Word and lived for His glory.

We believe that humanity fell into sin through the disobedience of Adam and Eve. Tempted by Satan, they rejected God’s command and rebelled against Him, falling from the holiness and righteousness in which they were created (Genesis 3).

As a result of the Fall, sin has affected the entire human race. Every person is born with a sinful nature and stands guilty before a holy God (Romans 3:9–20). Sin is not simply something we do; apart from God’s grace, it is part of who we are as fallen people.

We believe that sin affects every part of us—our minds, desires, wills, affections, and bodies. This does not mean that every person is as sinful as they could possibly be, but that there is no part of us left untouched by the effects of sin. Apart from Christ, we are spiritually dead in our sin, naturally opposed to God, and unable to rescue ourselves or make ourselves right with Him (Ephesians 2:1–3).

Because of this, our greatest need is not simply to become better people, but to be made new. We need the grace of God, the saving work of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit to give us new life and reconcile us to God.

We believe that every person must be born again to enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:5–8). Because we are spiritually dead in our sin, we cannot save ourselves, earn God’s favor, or make ourselves right with Him. Salvation is entirely a work of God’s grace and is received through faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross.

We believe that Jesus Christ is our only hope of salvation. Through His death, He shed His blood for sinners and paid the penalty our sin deserved. Everyone who turns from sin and trusts in Jesus Christ is forgiven, declared righteous before God, reconciled to Him, and received into His family as His child. Our acceptance before God is not based on our goodness or works, but entirely on the righteousness and saving work of Christ.

We believe that the new birth, or regeneration, is the work of the Holy Spirit. In regeneration, God gives spiritual life to those who were spiritually dead and makes them new creations in Christ. He gives us new hearts with new desires so that we begin to love God, pursue holiness, and desire to live in obedience to Him (John 3:5–8; Galatians 2:20).

Through this new life, the ruling power of sin is broken. Although believers continue to battle sin in this life, sin is no longer our master. God changes our hearts so that where we once lived for ourselves, we now desire to know Christ, follow Him, and live for His glory.

Salvation, from beginning to end, is the work of God’s grace. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, so that all the glory belongs to God.

The Church

We believe that Jesus Christ is building His Church through His Word and Spirit. The Church is made up of all those who have been saved by God’s grace, united to Christ through faith, and made part of His body (1 Corinthians 12:12–31). Christ is the head of the Church, and by His Word and Spirit He leads, strengthens, and preserves His people.

The Church exists first and foremost for the glory of God. We gather to worship the Father, through the Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit. As the body of Christ, we are called to live together as a family of believers, loving and serving one another as we grow together in Christ.

The Mission of the Church

We believe that Jesus has given His Church the mission of making disciples (Matthew 28:18–20). Therefore, the Church is not called simply to gather, but to go. We are called to proclaim the gospel, teach God’s Word, pray, worship, serve one another, use the gifts God has given us, and make Jesus known in our communities and throughout the world.

We believe discipleship involves helping people know Jesus, grow in Jesus, and live on mission for Jesus. Everything we do as a church should ultimately point people toward Christ and bring glory to God.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

We believe that Jesus gave His Church two ordinances: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. These ordinances do not save us, but were given by Christ to His Church as visible expressions of the gospel and our relationship with Him.

We believe that baptism is for those who have repented of their sin and placed their faith in Jesus Christ. In obedience to Christ, believers are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism is a public declaration of faith and a visible picture of our union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. It represents the old life being put to death and the believer being raised to walk in newness of life.

We believe that the Lord’s Supper is for followers of Jesus Christ and is to be observed regularly by the Church. Through the bread and the cup, we remember Christ’s body given for us and His blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins. As we come to the table in faith and with self-examination, we remember and proclaim the death of Christ until He returns.

The Lord’s Supper also reminds us that we belong not only to Christ, but to one another as His body. As we share the meal together, we proclaim our unity in Christ and, by faith, receive spiritual nourishment as we look again to Christ and the saving benefits of His finished work.

We believe that Jesus Christ will return personally, physically, visibly, and gloriously. His return will bring God’s plan of redemption to its final completion. The dead will be raised, those who belong to Christ will be glorified, and every person will stand before God in final judgment.

We believe that Jesus will fully and finally establish His Kingdom. Satan, sin, and death will be completely defeated. Satan and all who remain outside of Christ will face God’s final judgment and eternal punishment (Revelation 20:7–15).

But for those who belong to Christ, His return is our great hope. God’s people will be raised with glorified bodies and will live forever with Him in the new heavens and the new earth. There will be no more death, mourning, pain, or curse. We will live in the presence of God, worship Him, serve Him, and enjoy Him forever.

We believe that God will make all things new (Revelation 21:1–5). Creation itself will be restored, Christ will reign forever, and the purposes of God will be completely fulfilled. The earth will be filled with His glory, and His redeemed people will live with Him in everlasting joy.

Until that day, the Church lives with hope and expectation, faithfully following Jesus, proclaiming the gospel, and longing for the day when Christ returns and makes all things new.
